Often times a patient at my dental office in Fontana, CA, will request that I pull a tooth that could otherwise be saved with a crown or a large filling.

Once a tooth is a removed, it can set off a chain reaction that causes the remaining teeth to shift around…kind of like knocking down a set of dominoes. Teeth need each other for support. If you lose a tooth or one is removed, the teeth on either side may tip inwards and the opposing tooth may drown downward. That is why dentists will recommend a tooth be saved if it can be.

If you do have missing teeth, it is important to replace them with fixed bridges, implants, or removable partial dentures. These prostheses will help prevent your other teeth from moving, improve your smile and help you chew your food better.
