Yomi Robotic Dental Implants

Dentistry has advanced rapidly in the past few decades thanks to new technology, techniques, and materials. However, one of the most exciting technology to come along is robotic dental implant surgery.

Yomi Robotic Dental ImplantWinning Smiles is the first dental practice in Fontana, CA to offer leading-edge robotic implant placement. The field of dentistry is continually evolving, and we are proud to be on the cutting edge of what's possible!

What Is Robotic-Assisted Dental Implant Surgery?

Yomi is the name of the first robotic-guided system for dental implant surgery. Robotic surgery has been successfully used for medical procedures since the early 2000s, but Yomi is the first robotic system designed specifically to assist with implant planning and placement.

What Can I Expect during Robotic Implant Surgery?

Robotic implant technology is fascinating to watch in action! Yomi simplifies the entire implant planning and placement process using a digital workflow. With 3-D cone beam CT-based software, we can scan, plan, and perform implant surgery the same day.

Planning Dental Implant Placement

The 3-D CT scan indicates the precise location of nerves, sinuses, and adjacent teeth, and the system accounts for these anatomical structures when guiding implant placement. This eliminates the need for a 3-D surgical guide that requires you to visit our office for an impression and wait days for an outside dental lab to prepare the guide.

Implant Placement Guided by Yomi

Using CT-based software, your specialist plans your surgery then immediately moves on to implant placement. Using the drill attached to the robotic arm and real-time visual guidance from the software, the surgeon guides the implant to the precise location, angle, and depth for optimal placement.

There's no guesswork with robotic implants because Yomi uses sensory guidance to "communicate" with the operator. If during surgery, the angle of the implant is off by even a few millimeters, the robotic arm constrains further movement and prompts the surgeon to correct the angle with real-time visual guidance from the software.

What Are the Benefits of Robotic Implant Surgery?

Robotic Surgery in Winning Smiles CAOne of the most significant benefits of robotic surgery to the patient is that it is less invasive than traditional implant surgery. While the entire planning and preparation process takes about an hour, the actual surgery with robotic placement can be completed in about 15-20 minutes.

Other patient benefits of robotic implant surgery are:

  • No waiting for implant placement because planning and surgery can be completed in one visit
  • Greater comfort because the process is less invasive than traditional implant surgery
  • Allows for implant placement that wouldn't be strategically possible without robotics.

It's important to note that it is the specialist who holds the drill and performs the actual surgery. Robotics are only meant to assist in achieving excellent outcomes and not replace the skill and expertise of your oral surgeon.

Robotic implant surgery also helps us achieve optimal outcomes by:

  • Providing an unprecedented level of accuracy
  • Identifying anatomical structures before surgery to avoid nerves, sinuses, and adjacent teeth
  • Keeping the surgeon on plan for the precise location for implant placement
